Kibabii University and Science Africa Gearing Towards Working Relations

Kibabii University Journalism and Mass Communication students will reap big out of a partnership between the University and African Health Solutions Journalism Initiative (AHSJI).

Speaking during a consultative meeting held between the University and AHSJI management on Tuesday 10th August at Siritamu Resort in Bungoma, the Head of the project and a renowned writer Mr. Daniel Otunge (formerly a Standard Media Group) expressed his enthusiasm in reaching higher learning institutions and impacting skills meant to revolutionize the field of journalism. He committed to hasten the partnership with Kibabii University by providing the necessary framework and support. Once inked, the collaboration will see students benefit from mentorship programmes, grants, fellowships as well as capacity building among other benefits. In addition to that, the trainers and faculty shall benefit from training programmes meant to inject modern trends in solutions oriented journalistic reporting.

African Health Solutions Journalism Initiative (AHSJI) works with regional media houses, media associations, health ministries, hospitals, multilateral and bilateral organizations, industry, research institutions, universities (Journalism schools), renowned medical experts, health-based community organizations and target communities, among others. Their mission is to mainstream application of Solutions Journalism (SoJo) to improve media coverage of health issues in Africa that would enhance the ability of communities to better manage infectious diseases.

The partnership was fronted by the Division of Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation through the Office of Linkages and International Affairs.
